Bumblebee Black Holes in Light of Event Horizon Telescope Observations

چکیده

We report the existence of novel static spherical black-hole solutions in a vector-tensor gravitational theory called bumblebee gravity model which extends Einstein-Maxwell by allowing vector to nonminimally couple Ricci curvature tensor. A test strong-field regime is performed for first time using recent observations supermassive shadows galaxy M87 and Milky Way from Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration. The parameter space found largely unexcluded more experiments are needed fully bound theory.

Observing the effects of the event horizon in black holes

The key difference between neutron stars and black holes is the presence/absence of a solid surface. Recent attempts to detect this difference have concentrated on the quiescent luminosity, but here these sources are faint and difficult to observe. Instead we look at these sources when they are bright, and show that there is a clear difference between black holes and neutron stars in the evolut...

Quantum Black Holes: the Event Horizon as a Fuzzy Sphere

Modeling the event horizon of a black hole by a fuzzy sphere leads us to modify some suggestions in the literature concerning black hole mass spectra. We derive a formula for the mass spectrum of quantum black holes in terms of four integers which define the area, angular momentum, electric and magnetic charge of the black hole. Although the event horizon becomes a commutative sphere in the cla...

Rotating “Black Holes” with Holes in the Horizon

Kerr-Schild solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations, containing semi-infinite axial singular lines, are investigated. It is shown that axial singularities break up the black hole, forming holes in the horizon. As a result, a tube-like region appears which allows matter to escape from the interior without crossing the horizon. It is argued that axial singularities of this kind, leading...

Near-horizon symmetries of extremal black holes

Recent work has demonstrated an attractor mechanism for extremal rotating black holes subject to the assumption of a near-horizon SO(2, 1) symmetry. We prove the existence of this symmetry for any extremal black hole with the same number of rotational symmetries as known four and five dimensional solutions (including black rings). The result is valid for a general two-derivative theory of gravi...

Near-Horizon Conformal Structure of Black Holes

The near-horizon properties of a black hole are studied within an algebraic framework, using a scalar field as a simple probe to analyze the geometry. The operator H governing the near-horizon dynamics of the scalar field contains an inverse square interaction term. It is shown that the operators appearing in the corresponding algebraic description belong to the representation space of the Vira...
